Youth Trips

(For Volunteers Under the Age of 18)

The youth Bali trip is an exciting coral reef restoration project with volunteers between the ages of 15 and 17. Along with several days of fun on the beach, volunteers learn about environmental restoration from expert conservationists and share that knowledge with local students during beach cleanup efforts.

Fly into Denpasar, Ngurah Rai Airport, where a Lift Our Planet staff member will greet you. We’ll travel to Ubud and check into the hotel, where you’ll have some time to get settled in. In the evening, you’ll join your fellow volunteers at a Welcome Dinner with a traditional Balinese meal.

Day 2

After breakfast, volunteers will join us for the Program Orientation, where you’ll learn about the cultural do’s and don’ts, receive a safety briefing, and study the basics of the Indonesian language. Later, you’ll receive a Banjar workshop from a local musician and tour the Ubud palace before dinner with members of royal family.

Day 3

Tour the rural areas of Ubud and experience the famous rice patties on a guided bike tour! When we return, we’ll stop to learn about the Bye Bye Plastic Bag Initiative, an ocean conservation project that targets single use plastics. In the evening we’ll delight in the experience of a traditional Balinese Dance Performance.

Day 4

We’ll be leaving Ubud and take a journey to the shores of beautiful Pemuteran. Volunteers will have this day all to themselves, free to explore or relax on the beach! There are instructors available all around for surfing lessons and plenty of sunshine to keep your day bright!

Day 5

Today you’ll receive your formal introduction to the international coral reef restoration project. Volunteers will learn all about the patented technology that makes Biorock such a unique project to participate in. Afterwards, we’ll go snorkeling over the coral reef structures to see it in action!

Day 6

In the morning, you’ll hike through West Bali National Park. Throughout the course of our adventure you’ll be planting mangrove saplings, which help to protect areas of vulnerable coral reefs. Later in the day, we’ll pay a visit to the turtle hatchery, where they’re diligently working to increase the number of sea turtles in Bali’s oceans

Day 7

We’ll begin the day with a boating excursion to Menjangan Island, home to the world’s most biodiverse array of coral reefs and marine life. You’ll never see anything like it! In the evening, we’ll embark on a special night trip to Melanting Temple, Bali’s temple for prosperity.

Day 8

Today will be an exciting day filled with community activism. You’ll be teaching at a local elementary school and sharing your new knowledge on environmental sustainability and stewardship! Afterwards, the schoolchildren will join us in a beach cleanup coordinated with a local environmental organization.

Day 9

We’ll be heading out to Sanur, where you can enjoy the day however you’d like. There’s plenty of time to relax on the beach, shop to your heart’s content, and explore lesser known sights. In the evening, all of our volunteers will join us for a Farewell Dinner.

Day 10

Say goodbye to your new Lift Our Planet family! We’ll pack our bags and depart to the airport. A member of the LOP staff will escort you to the airport and assist you with checking in and boarding your flight. Rahajeng memargi!
